The Atelier Kempe Thill and Thörner Kaczmarek team won the international competition for the extension of the German parliament - Deutscher Bundestag - Luisenblock Ost 1.
The project is located in the Berlin city center and faces the river Spree on the south and the Berlin S-Bahn on the north. It will form the new eastern end of the “Band des Bundes” the Berlin Capital-Parliament and Governmental Quarter. With an approximative size of 66.000m2, the project consists of several new buildings and the transformation of two listed industrial buildings. Construction is expected to start in 2027.
