0258 Hochschule Niederrhein, Mönchengladbach, DE
Atelier Kempe Thill was commissioned to work on a new university project for the Rheydter Strasse campus of Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Mönchengladbach, Germany. The project consists of two parts. First, a factory hall from the early twentieth century listed as a monument will be carefully restored according to new environmental standards and transformed into an open and flexible learning landscape for the textile industry. Then, a new experimental machine hall will be added, featuring a wooden construction surrounded by a newly designed green park which will form the spatial center of the campus. The project is being carried out in collaboration with Thörner Kaczmarek Architekten Düsseldorf, Germany.
