The Codic Design Factory is a multitenant office building in Düsseldorf, Germany, for which Atelier Kempe Thill submitted an invited competition proposal. The building provides new working conditions fitting to the wishes and requirements of the twenty-first century, and it offers much more flexibility than conventional office typologies. The spaces have a free height of 4 meters and are 18 meters deep, with a very simple but inspiring layout. What is more, an atrium in the center of the building forms a collective space. A big workshop, an exhibition hall, and an open auditorium are situated in the basement. The structure has a stepped shape, which offers a collective roof landscape where users can work, do sports, and engage in public events outside.
