0217 Les Linandes Cergy-Pontoise, Greater Paris, FR
This project designed by Atelier Kempe Thill is situated in the Les Linandes development area in the new town of Cergy-Pontoise, France, in the Greater Paris area. The operation aims at the general densification of the Parisian suburbs due to the rise of land prices and the ongoing lack of housing.
The project takes as its point of departure a cost-efficient, low-rise, high-density strategy: two layers of duplex apartments are superimposed and organized around a parking garage that is realized at ground-floor level. While the lower apartments are accessed from the perimeter of the block, the upper apartments are accessed from the inside of the block through a hanging garden on top of a parking garage. With this system, a very economical typology for housing is created on the one hand, while quality space for all inhabitants is ensured on the other hand with the introduction of the hanging garden that covers the parking underneath.
The program encompasses 75 apartments for sale within a total surface area of approximately 5,000 square meters. About half of the apartments are duplex types with generous double-height void spaces. The outer façades are generously glazed with aluminum windows featuring integrated sunblinds. The closed parts of the façades are plastered.
