The Kazakhstan-based Central Asian Institute for Ecological Research is building new headquarters that will be used, on the one hand, as an office and laboratory facility for the employees of the organization and, on the other, as an exhibition and education center for the local population.
Atelier Kempe Thill’s proposal in this invited competition suggested building a small tower for the relatively limited building site in the inner city of Almaty. The design was based on sustainable principles and the wish of the client to work in an environment adhering to the rules of feng shui.
