In 2011, Atelier Kempe Thill was invited to submit a proposal for a sustainable new architectural landmark for the city of Groningen, Netherlands. The office proposed a 70-meter-high, compact tower for students with flexible unit sizes. All apartments have a full-glass folding façade and enjoy splendid views of the Dutch landscape. The “heart” of the building is a collective atrium functioning as a space for social activities of the inhabitants. At the south side, the tower is terraced and thus offers collective outside spaces for the students.
