The development of Park Spoor Noord is one of the major urban renewal projects in the city of Antwerp, Belgium. Within the future park stands the existing WDT-Loods railway building that has been transformed in a multifunctional cultural center. Therefore, the building had to be stripped, renovated, and adapted to conform to the strict fire rules. WTD-Loods has been extended by adding a new hall, which will serve as a sport center for the nearby university. Atelier Kempe Thill’s design proposal idea was to extend WDT-Loods from its inner logic. In terms of materialization, the glazed sport hall contrasts with the existing brick buildings.
