The student housing complex HipHouse is the first building by Atelier Kempe Thill realized within the master plan for the Muziekwijk district in Zwolle, Netherlands. The urban villa, with its 23 by 32 by 25 meters, is a very compact building, including storage spaces in a half basement. All of the facades of the mini-tower are entirely made of sun-protection glazing fixed on an aluminum sliding door system. The apartments enjoy views of the surroundings and high levels of daylight. The central atrium has a dual function: on one hand it serves as a circulation space through which the apartments are accessed, while on the other it brings daylight deep into the core of the building.
