The new traditional crafts museum built by Atelier Kempe Thill on the UNESCO site of the prison colony of Veenhuizen, Netherlands, consists of an exhibition hall, several workshops for traditional crafts, an education center, and a supermarket for historic building materials. The museum is housed in four existing listed buildings from around 1820.
Parts of the existing structure had to be demolished to be able to bring the estate back to its original state. The buildings were remodeled from the inside to make them fit to the new museum function.
