Atelier Kempe Thill’s new master plan for a subcenter in the town of Kinderdijk, Netherlands, consists of two programmatic blocks. The block on the left contains all public facilities: located on the ground floor is a supermarket along with several smaller shops, whilst on the second floor there is a local school with a large atrium that can also be used by a local church or for hosting events in the neighborhood. The block on the right is a new housing estate, which surrounds a common green that can be used as a safe playground. Between the two blocks there is a new public space, with an existing church from the 1950s as the spatial center.
