The Europarei in Uithoorn, Netherlands, is a housing estate from the 1960s, consisting of nine slab buildings with a total of 1,100 apartments. The architectural task pursued by Atelier Kempe Thill was to make a completely new design for all of the façades, to create extensions for the central halls, to renew the technical equipment, and to make various changes to the floor plans of the apartments. The realized design was developed together with the residents. The logistics of the building process was related to the fact that the inhabitants stayed in their apartments during the renovation period.
