Atelier Kempe Thill won in 2016 the European tender for the transformation of two social housing apartment blocks in the Jette district of Brussels, Belgium. The refurbishment of the two buildings from the 1950s has been a long and complicated process. In spring 2023 more than 100 units have been delivered. The inhabitants stayed in their homes while all façades, windows and technical installations were carefully renovated. In the end the apartments were technically optimized in order to reduce energy consumption and traffic noise. The new layout of the façades fits the modernist character of the historical ensemble.
